IELTS - Your passport to study or work abroad

IELTS stands for the International English Language Testing System. It is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment.

IELTS is recognized internationally and accepted by more than 8,000 academic institutions, immigration services and professional organizations around the world. It is recognized in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and increasingly in the United States. IELTS is also recognized in many other countries such as France, Germany, China, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey among many others.

If you need to find out who recognizes IELTS, have a look at the list of recognition.

LSA organizes the IELTS every month in Algiers. Select from the 2016 IELTS test dates list which test day suits you best.

The fees for IELTS are as follows:

Test Format Standard IELTS

There are two versions of IELTS:  Academic IELTS and General Training IELTS.

The Academic version is designed for people wishing to undertake further studies (undergraduate or postgraduate studies) in an English-speaking country.

The General Training version is designed for people wishing to immigrate, work or live in English-speaking countries. It is also designed to enrol informal training programmes.

The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are completed in one day. The Speaking test can be done on the same day or up to a week before or after the test day.

How do I register?

To register, you will need to:

  1. Fully fill in an IELTS Application Form, date and sign it
  2. Provide us with a scanned and printed copy of EITHER your National ID Card OR of the four (04) first pages of your passport (N.B: The ID document you will choose to register MUST be valid upon registration and on the Test day)
  3. Pay the registration fee which is 32,000 DA.

Once this is done, you will receive an IELTS Registration Confirmation Letter that you will need to read carefully as it contains valuable and useful information for you. You will then need to date and sign it and bring along with you on the Test day.

N.B: Registration must be completed more than five weeks prior to any test date. Closing dates can be found on the 2015 IELTS test dates document.

Do I need to bring passport-sized photographs to register?

No. But according to the IELTS regulations, a digital photograph of you will be taken and a finger scan will be collected on your first test day.
This process has been implemented worldwide and is designed to increase the level of security of the IELTS test.  The photograph taken by test centre staff will appear on your Test Report Form (TRF).  Your photograph and all personal data will only be used for the purpose of the IELTS Test.

IELTS preparation courses

LSA offers a wide range of IELTS preparation courses. These courses can last 16 to 60 hours according to your needs. You will first need to sit a placement test which will help us identify your strengths and weaknesses.
